Neumann, Master Gunner, Coast Artillery Corps, of events from 3 Feb. 1917 (President Wilson broke off relations with Germany) to 21 Mar. 1919 ( when the 63rd regiment CAC was demobilzed at Fort Lewis, Wash.). Topics include training at Fort Worden, where he received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant; jobs at Fort Casey; visit to the Presidio in San Francisco; visits to Seattle and preparations for war; leaving Fort Worden for France on 13 June 1918; arriving at Camp Mills, Long Island, N.Y., on 22 June; leaving New York on CPR liner "Empress of Britain", 13 July; arriving in Liverpool on 27 July; being sent to Romney rest camp; marching to Southampton (9 miles) on 29 July and crossing the channel to Le Havre on SS Yale; service in France from 2 Aug. 1918 to 6 Feb. 1919; returning to the U.S. from Marseilles, arriving in New York on 27 Feb.; and returning to Camp Lewis, Wash., where the 63rd Regiment was demobilized on 21 Mar. 1919.
